Tokowhā has been performing together since 2020 through the New Zealand School Of Music's Classical Performance programme. As individual artists the boys all have a wide range of musical backgrounds but have come together to deliver a mixture of musical fusions incorporating elements from classical, jazz, musical theatre, Māori and Pasifika songs and more.

The quartet is most known for their fun loving approach to delivering Opera to the non-Opera listener and for the casual and welcoming nature of their performances. If you are in and about the Wellington region, Tokowhā will probably have a performance somewhere near you.
